Welcome to Hedgehogs Class
Welcome to Hedgehogs Class! Here are few helpful reminders and some information about what’s happening this term.
Please could your child leave their PE kit (blue or white shorts and T-shirt, trainers, and jogging bottoms), a pair of indoor shoes and wellies in school during the week. The children will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays and it helps on those days if they can wear clothes they can change themselves. They will also need to bring a coat with them every day as we often go for walks and go outside for play.
Your child needs to bring in a water bottle (containing water only please) every day as we encourage them to help themselves to a drink of water. Water bottles are available from the school office.
The children are provided with a portion of free fruit or vegetables every morning for snack time. The children are also allowed to bring in their own fruit or vegetable snack if you would like them to. Please ensure your child is also registered with www.coolmilk.com if you wish your child to receive milk at school. This is free for children under 5.
Reception children will soon receive a story sack and a picture book. Please see separate letter for more information. Year 1 children will find a reading book in their bags this week.
We will be doing ‘show and share’ once a week this term and will let your child know when it is their turn to bring something in to talk about. Look out for a letter in your child’s book bag. It is always appreciated if this item is related to our Learning Theme.
This year the Year 1’s will be introduced to homework through short maths or literacy activities and will be given spellings to learn each week. They will be given up to 5 spellings which will follow a spelling pattern. Please see separate letter for more information.
Finally please could you make sure all their clothes and belongings are named. Most school uniform looks alike and it helps to reunite lost items with owners!
Please read the school newsletter carefully each week as it contains important information and letters as well as what we are working on each week. Also, look out for our termly skills map which will tell you what we are working on each term in each learning area. These will give you an idea of how you can help your child at home. School information and newsletters will be emailed to you unless you have requested otherwise at the office.
If there is anything you would like to discuss please feel free to come and talk to us. We are often busy first thing in the morning when all the children are arriving and so after school is the best time to catch us for a chat.
