Welcome to Hedgehogs Class
Happy new year! We hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas holiday. Thank you very much for all of your lovely cards and presents.
Once again, we have a busy term planned. Our learning theme for terms 3 and 4 is ‘An Island Home’ and will have a geography then history focus. We will be looking at the stories of Katie Morag and finding out about the Scottish Island of Coll where the stories are based. In the second half of term we will be learning about Grace Darling and her daring sea rescue from the lighthouse where she lived. We will be starting all this off by creating our own islands using paper mache.
Foundation Stage children will soon be receiving word bags in their book bags each week with ‘tricky words’ to practise reading. Look out for these and more information coming soon!
Year 1 homework this term will have a focus on number bonds. They will also continue to have a spellings challenge each Friday on the spellings given out the Friday before.
Please continue to support your child with reading their reading books every day. It does make such a difference to their reading and writing development and we really appreciate any time you can dedicate to this.
Can we please ask that all children have a water bottle containing water, in school every day, so that they can have easy access to a drink throughout the day.
Please can you also make sure that your child’s clothing is named as we are having regular mix ups with unnamed jumpers and PE kits. It would really help us if every item of clothing had a name in. PE will continue to take place on a Wednesday and Friday.
Many thanks for your support.
As always, if you have any questions or queries please come and talk to us. After school is the best time to catch us.
