Welcome to Oak Class

Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We hope you have all had a relaxing, enjoyable and healthy Christmas holiday. Thank you very much for all of your lovely cards and presents. We truly appreciated them.
Once again, we have a busy term planned!
  • Our learning theme for terms 3 and 4 is ‘Get Moving’ please find attached details of what we will be learning this term so you know what you can support your child with at home. This term the sounds we will be learning are:
ff ll ss zz and reading and spelling 3 letter words with a vowel, consonant, consonant & we will be starting to learn to read & spell words with 4 letter sounds.
  • Reading books will continue to be changed on a Wednesday. Please make sure you have read our previous email called ‘changes to your child’s reading books’ that we sent to you all via parentmail on 6/12/21. We will be sending out a paper copy of this email in their reading folders on Wednesday in case you missed it.
  • Please make sure your child reads each book in their reading folder several times, this helps with their fluency, understanding & instant word recognition.
If your child wants to read more books than we are providing, please feel free to get books from the local library. Please do not worry if your child hasn’t got a book with words in yet. All children progress at different rates.
  • Please make sure reading books & Reading Record books come into school every day in your child’s book bag as sometimes we will hear them read their books in class on a 1 to 1 basis.
  • Please record in your child’s reading record book when your child has read at home and if they have finished their book, so we know when a book needs changing and we know when your child is heard read. Please continue to support your child with their reading, as reading is part of your child’s weekly homework. It does make such a difference to their reading and writing development and your child will really appreciate your time and effort.
  • In their Reading Record book please can you count & number how many nights your child has read at home, so they can receive their certificates.
  • PE will continue to take place on a Thursday and Friday. You will need to make sure your child comes into school in their PE kit on these days.
Many thanks for your support.
As always, if you have any questions or queries please come and talk to us. After school is the best time to catch us.
Best wishes,
Kathryn Bartlett and Laura Mills
