Welcome to Seals Class
Welcome back to another term! I hope you have all had a restful break and are ready for term 5!
In Seals Class, we will be launching straight into our new topic on rainforests and have a number of exciting things in store over the next two terms! These include: finding out about weird and wonderful species of animals and plants, designing and creating our own packaging and making cereal bars, art projects inspired by Henri Rousseau, preparing play scripts based on Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’ and eventually a class trip to The Living Rainforest as well as Morfa Bay!
Our focus in Maths will be to consolidate our ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to solve problems involving these operations. If you want to find out more about the written methods your child will use for the four operations, please pop in for some more information. We will also be looking at how to apply these skills in word problem based tasks.
Maths and English homework will continue to be given out on Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday (Term 5 only). Please note that your child is not expected to spend any longer than 40 minutes on each given task. If, after 40 minutes (per subject), despite trying their best, your child hasn’t completed a task, please just sign to say they’ve spent the required amount of time at work and leave it unfinished. If you have any problems, questions or concerns about homework, please let me know.
PE will now take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Wednesday session will be a swimming lesson, where we will travel to the Activity Zone in Malmesbury. Please make sure that your child has a swimming costume, towel, goggles and a swimming hat for these sessions (hats can be purchased from Reception for £1), and a named PE kit in school so that they can participate in this important area of the curriculum.
Finally, just a quick note to say that some of the children’s daps are looking a little worn out or no longer fit. Please could you check that your child has an appropriate set of indoor shoes in school as this helps to keep our classrooms nice and clean!
As always if there are any questions or queries, please feel free to come and find me.
